My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea

After over a dozen festival screenings and a limited theatrical release, one of the most acclaimed animations of 2017 will finally see a digital release this month. “My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea” tells you so much just from the title, and yet also tells you so very little. The debut feature film from cartoonist Dash Shaw is such a significant contrast to the hundred-million dollar animations that are releasd every year, and yet its simplistic stylings are all the more aesthetically satisfying. A film this unique would likely be lost in the void that is the internet if it weren’t for the stellar voice cast which features Jason Schwartzman, Lena Dunham, Reggie Watts, Maya Rudolph, and Susan Sarandon.
