Lucy Boynton Joins Bohemian Rhapsody
You may have seen the image of Rami Malek looking awfully like Freddie Mercury from new Queen film Bohemian Rhapsody. Now director Bryan Singer has added another key role to the film, with Lucy Boynton on board to play Mary Austin.
Charting the birth and huge rise of Queen to rock superstardom, the film will take the band to the heights of their show-stopping appearance at Live Aid in 1985. And it features the involvement of fellow Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor, looking to keep the story authentic and the tunes right. They'll also be represented on screen too, with Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello and Gwilym Lee as Taylor, John Deacon and May respectively.
Austin was Mercury's lifelong companion; even when he came out to her, the two remained close friends. He wrote several songs about her, including Love Of My Life.
With producer Graham King shepherding his passion project through an uncertain sea of cast and creative changes, the film is now kicking into production mode, and Singer will deliver the film for 25 December, 2018 in America, and a few days later, 28 December, over here.
Boynton, who appeared in Sing Street, has worked on the likes of Rebel In The Rye and Murder On The Orient Express, the latter of which arrives on 3 November.
